Grant Curtis - Welcome backJuly 28, 2006
 Dear friends,
After filming 100 plus days of photography, "Spider-Man 3" officially wrapped earlier this month. Our journey began with a quick 10-day shoot from Saturday, November 5, 2005, to Friday, November 18, 2005. This time period was dedicated to three visual effects intensive sequences so Sony Pictures Imageworks could begin working on some of the more complicated CGI components of the movie. We employed a similar tactic on "Spider-Man 2," shooting the Ock hospital sequence and a lot of the plates for the Spidey/Ock train battle prior to principal photography. Just as it did on number two, the results of this VFX pre-shoot are really paying off and SPI has been able to get a head start on some extremely complex sequences.
With this early shoot in the can, we continued prepping the movie until January 16, 2006 when the cameras began rolling for good on Stage 30 at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, CA. The Los Angeles portion of our photography lasted until May 19, 2006, at which time we headed to New York. Manhattan was our gracious yet rain-filled host for 26 days of filming until 5:46 AM, July 1, 2006, when we filmed our final shot outside the New York public library as the sun was rising over the beautiful skyline.
So, now for the big question: what has transpired since the opening of "Spider-Man 2" and what do the next nine months hold in store? For the answers to these and many other questions, the good people at Sony asked me to reprise my role writing web logs and answering your questions just as I did on "Spider-Man 2." However, for "Spider-Man 3" the forum will not only include my blogs, but will also feature informative weekly video web logs that will keep our discussions fresh and new.
It's great to be back guys! I look forward to continuing our relationship as we explore what went into making the most exciting "Spider-Man" film to date.
Cheers,
Grant Curtis

Welcome back. Looking forward to updates.
Is there any chance if we are going to see the actual Venom, like from the comic-con, before the movie?
#1 | Posted by: darmiccah | July 28, 2006 1:31 PM
Thanks for the update - I can't wait for the movie!
#2 | Posted by: Tim | July 28, 2006 1:34 PM
I think so many guys like me were wrong, we were waiting for Venom on the bigscreen, but almost forgot that before of venom there was a Black Spidey, So guys be patient, and don't be hopeless, we must to wait another chapter of the spidey saga in wich may appear the evil alien reencarned in Venom.

Spider-Man 3 is going to be the best superhero film ever. The teaser trailer is astonishing. This will be the first truly great superhero trilogy.

Hi there, I am from Brazil... first congrats on the fantastic work so far(judging by the awesome teaser) .. here is the question: Please how is the visual effects going on in this movie? there will be more or less CGI.. where there any improvals in the technology that will make the movie look better than the other instalments of spiderman?
Cya from Brazil!

Hi Grant. Good job with SM3, its looking hot!
Glad you're willing to field questions and I wanna be the first to ask the obvious one:
When can we see Venom?
#7 | Posted by: Scotty | July 28, 2006 2:18 PM
I agree with you Grant, Spider-Man 3 will be the best summer movie of 2007 for me.

Hello Grant, I was wondering if you had any information on the release of the footage that was at Comic Con? Thank You.
#14 | Posted by: Spencer | July 28, 2006 8:46 PM
Welcome back Grant. Spidey 3 looks freaking awesome .
I can't wait to read your blogs again . Your blogs for Spidey 2 were awesome .
So I can't wait to read your blogs for spidey 3 .
#15 | Posted by: Peter | July 28, 2006 9:25 PM
Looking at the teaser and wallpapers, I just can't wait to see Peter battles himself and Venom in the big screen! I can't wait to see the fourth one!
#16 | Posted by: Paul | July 28, 2006 9:48 PM
This movie could end up being better than Spider-Man 2 and Batman Begins!
#17 | Posted by: Daniel Kamphaus | July 28, 2006 10:47 PM
Hello, I am very excited about Spider-Man 3<---. I hope it meets up to my expectations, which i think it most defenitly will. I love Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2. My opinion on spider-Man and or Peter Parker is that I agree with the fact that it is realistic for somebody to relate to this character in a pretty common way. for Example: peter P. struggles with money and finding a decent paying job. Anywho i can't wait!! when i saw the movie trailer i was like: "yyiAA"
#18 | Posted by: dan Hoppock | July 28, 2006 11:05 PM
This movie is going to be astonishing judging from the teaser and pics we have gotten!!! Though, I have one question, will we see venom soon?
#19 | Posted by: Kyle | July 28, 2006 11:16 PM
You're offering to tell us more about the movie? That's too nice - thanks!
Please put the rumors to bed, just how much on screen time does Venom have? In other words, does he appear only in the end of the film or is he (and not Brock) introduced in the middle?
Also, is Spiderman 3 really going to be the last Spidey film with the Tobey and Dunst in these roles?
And lastly, why does Raimi hate Venom so much? I know that's alot to ask, but please let us know. Thanks!
#20 | Posted by: Kevin | July 28, 2006 11:26 PM
Nice work on the teaser. But when will the trailer shown at comic con be released. And if it wont be will any up and coming trailers include images of venom ...?
#21 | Posted by: Nick D. | July 28, 2006 11:31 PM
Yes!!! I am extremely glad that you are going to be blogging again. Your blogs from spidey 2 were great, and were always fun to read. I can't wait to read your spidey 3 ones. Those blogs made the wait for the release a lot more bearable. Glad to have you back.
---
I don't know if we are supposed to ask questions yet, but here is a basic one just in case.
What was some of the stuff you did as a producer for this third movie? Jobs, responsibilities, etc.
I remember some of your stories from the second movie and I thought it would be interesting to here some of the ones from this third one.
Thankyou,

yeah coming up on the 300th mark!
when do you think the extended trailer from comic con will be released?
#23 | Posted by: peter | July 29, 2006 1:03 AM
Wow, I never you started filming since last year. I can't wait for May 2007. Mr. Grant, I have a question: Will Spider-Man 3 be filmed with the same aspect ratio as of part 2 (2.40:1)?
#24 | Posted by: Vp Ortiz | July 29, 2006 1:55 AM
Wow. Alot of hard work put in. Hurray for the final shot done! Hope to see more clips soon!
#25 | Posted by: Sharon | July 29, 2006 3:08 AM
hey u guys i think they are actually going to show the international trailer around october november time like they did with star wars episode III and i bet no doubt venom will be like a quick flash at the end appearing in front of spidey of hanging on a wall
#26 | Posted by: nathan hall | July 29, 2006 4:14 AM
Grant,
It's good to have you back. As someone whose question you answered back during S2, and as someone who was able to spend time on the shoot in Cleveland, Ohio, Sony Pictures has been very gracious to fans in many ways. Your dedication, and the crews', is very obvious. Thank you very much, and maybe I'll have another question or two for S3.

Great job! The trailer is awesome. Can't wait for the movie. I'm curious, though, everyone is asking about Venom, but how about showing us some more pics of Sandman? Also, why doesn't Harry have a goblin costume? Thanks.
#30 | Posted by: Scott B. | July 29, 2006 7:24 AM
Mr. Curtis,
I can't imagine the whirlwind of activity you must be caught up in, the sheer number of critical tasks, the pressure of perpetual can't-miss deadlines that must dictate every waking moment of your life, and the magnitude of responsibility you and Mr. Raimi must feel upon you to passify the studio, invigorate and represent every individual involved with making this picture, and to quench the appetite of such a vast dominion of insatiable Spider-man AND moviegoing fans out there. It's overwhelming for me just to think on it for a brief moment. And then to see you take up the ominous duty of condensing the fragmented chaos of your each and every passing week into a little blurb just for the sake of brightening our day and making us feel a part of your journey-- it's incredible. You are......amazing! ;) Thanks for everything past, present, and future that you do everyday to make this franchise worthy of hero-worship.

#33 | Posted by: Justin | July 29, 2006 9:22 AM
Cool, I have a ton of Spidey comics and can't wait for the new movie. I know this is probably a stupid question, but honestly, in your own opinion, do you think the new movie is better than the last one? Thanks.
#34 | Posted by: Kevin | July 29, 2006 9:54 AM
This is good news. I used to read your blogs when Spider-Man 2 was being made, but I never posted.
This time I want to be part of the excitement. I can't wait to see more.

the trailer looks spectacular. I have been a spider-man fan since I can remember. I am always intrigued on what goes on in the pre-post production stages of a film, and would like to know how you--what was the journey, or path that lead you to do this.
thank you I hope more success comes your way.

Welcome back, Mr. Curtis! So very glad that you're doing this blog again. I was just wondering the other day if it would happen, and I'm so happy to see it is. I was an extra for the '2' shoot in Chicago and met/spoke with Sam briefly; his kindness and intelligent conversation appears to be shared with all who work on these wonderful films, so thank you for being in that number, and here's to the next installment of the best superhero trilogy ever and your generous involvement and communication with us fans.
Have a great day, and thanks again!

I agree, Mr. Curtis, wtih InsomniacFreak... an awesome job is difficult to perform but so far the Spider-Man entity remains just that -AWESOME-... A huge thanks to you and to all involved. I will look forward to each of your posts.
#38 | Posted by: moon | July 29, 2006 11:00 AM
The trailer is awesome and I can't wait for the movie. But I'm a little concerned about multiple villians in the movie. I have a small fear that the Spider-Man movies may go the same way the Batman movies went.
#39 | Posted by: B | July 29, 2006 11:27 AM

Whoa~ cool! I haven't read anything about your previous blogs since this is the first time here. I'm going to the Wizard World con in Chicago, will anything of Spidey 3 be in display? Maybe I'll pick up a poster if it's available...
I wish you much success with "3", and I hope it blows the "Pirates 2" boxoffice record. hahaaa =)
#52 | Posted by: Jason | July 29, 2006 6:14 PM
I hope this movie ends up being as good as, if not better, the second one. I'm just a little worried about having too many villains in this film. Not to mention how Raimi was sort of pushed by Arad to add Venom to the film. I hope I'm proven wrong.
#53 | Posted by: Meph | July 29, 2006 6:53 PM
what about green goblin where does he come in?
#54 | Posted by: tuhy | July 29, 2006 6:58 PM
I would just like to say that spiderman 3 will beat all the films out in like the past 4 years. This could include LOTR, Star Wars, and Pirates 2. I cant wait for this film to come out!!!! It is going to become our national pastime!:)

I freakin cannot wait for spidey 3! I think it may surpass 1 and 2 in box office sales! This is def the most anticipated comic or spidey film to date. The teaser trailer was awesome, short, but awesome. When the black symbiote jumps on Peter's arm, wow! and the sandman breaking out of the bank, omg! I wonder w/ 3 villains and 2 love interests, how long it will be? 2-3 hours? how can u put all that in just 2? Sam Raimi is a genius,so I have faith it will not dissapoint! I hope in the future we will see the Lizard and rhino!

Hey, I'm a first time commentor. First of all the SM franchise the best superhero franchise ever, and I'm sure many fans would agree. Now for some questions:
1. Like everybody else, when's the release of the new trailer.
2. Is this a trilogy or can us fans have hope for more?
Thanks
#94 | Posted by: Anthony | July 31, 2006 3:43 PM
Hello Mr. Curtis, thanx for payin' a little attention to the fans!!
I love the franchise and own the first two movies in special edition DVD. Looking forward for the big 3.
My only question is when can we get to see the Comic-Con footage, or some sort of Venom reveal?? And I mean the actual Venom, not just Topher in mid-transformation.
Thanx a lot.
#95 | Posted by: Oscar Oranday | July 31, 2006 5:20 PM
I think that it's going to be great,I can't wait!
#96 | Posted by: luis | July 31, 2006 6:31 PM
Hey, i'm just another rabid fan wanting clips and/or pics of venom. When will we all get to see the comic-con trailer? Please don't make us wait too long for it.
Also, we won't settle for a mere trilogy..........we want more!
#97 | Posted by: Matt | July 31, 2006 7:37 PM
I have no doubts that spiderman 3 we'll be the pinacle of all superhero movies to come. Spider man will indeed set the bar. Espeacially with the apearence of Venom and spidey dawning the black suit. If this is the final, many will weep and mourne the loss of this great franchise. So please let there be sequels. hell it worked for star wars, u guys can surley pull it off.
#98 | Posted by: jeff | July 31, 2006 9:05 PM
OMG I LOVE SPIDER-MAN!! Anyway, I am not what you'd call a true fan or anything, but this is like the coolest movie of a comic book superhero ever!! I am kinda embarrassed to admit I like comic books and stuff though, cuz usually it's a guy thing... not saying that girls can't it's just they normally don't. Oh well sorry to ramble but I am soo excited. I wish they could make movies faster! I HATE WAITING!!! And those producer people better make a SM 4 or else I will personally go over there and CHOP THEIR HEADS OFF! Unless of course, they can end the series WITHOUT A CLIFFHANGER- I HATE CLIFFHANGERS!!! But I have complete unwavering faith in them due to the most amazing first two movies. Maybe the producer-peeps can even go all Star Wars Saga and do six... if it's not too expensive? Sigh. I could type forever about how much I HEART SPIDER-MAN! Not to mention excellent choice of Tobey McGuire for Parker (MUCHO CALIENTE BODY!!!)
I wish I could talk to the cast/crew. I wish I could be the cast/crew. Oops! Sorry about the rambling! I get so carried away sometimes... :P

I can't wait for S3! I've seen some shots of Venom and WOW! This movie is gonna destroy records and I'm so glad the black alien suit is being made a part of the movies. Most people don't know about the story of the suit or how it corrupts Peter then moves on to Eddie. BRILLIANT!

Mr. Curtis,
Thank you for the these interesting and informative "blogs".
Is there any chance of you guys getting The original live action spiderman Nicholas Hammond to be in spiderman 3 or 4 ????
It would be kewl to have him give hero advice to Peter or
even as a love interest for Aunt May. He could play an old friend of Uncle Ben's.
To my entire generation he is and always will be Spiderman. Please tell Mr. Raimi I said so!! :)

i tink it is so cool of them to do that for us fans. also that they are workin on the cgi for the film. it must mean that some scenes have a ton of action.
spidey rocks!!!!!!!!!

i have seen the teaser and i want to ask if venom is going to be like that all the way through the movie or is he gonna be bigger and stronger than spidey like in the comics p.s. when are we gonna see felicia hardy(black cat) and spiderman turn into the man spider like in the old cartoons

Hey everyone! Im soo excited for Spidey-3 i can't even explain it. I heard in an interview that tobey wasn't sure if they would make a fourth movie unless they felt they had a story to tell. I just wanted to say that there is a lot more out there to explain and if needed, i would love to be the one to help figure out the best story to tell. I love the transition you guys have made from comic to movie and if you ever needed an opinion of what would make a great story i would love to help out in anyway possible. And thank you Mr. Curtis for coming here to interact with us, the overly impatiant fans! As far as any questions, the only one would be the obvious "When can we see venom?" but thats all. Thanks again Mr. Curtis

I was hoping to see man-spider in the 3rd movie and then have an awesome fight between Venom and Man-spider.

Hi Grant,
I worked on Spidey with you (as Kirsten's stunt double and stand-in). I really miss everyone from set and I can't wait to read your postings about whats going on with the movie in post production. I don't suppose ya'll have anymore stunts to finish.. if so, I'm here for you! Hope all is well, Toni

I think one thing that I my self and others on this blog are wanting is the Comic Con footage or atleast another trailer that has Venom shots in it. Please write in regaurds to that information. Thanks.
#111 | Posted by: Spencer | August 1, 2006 7:59 PM
Wow that sounds like an INTENSE shoot. Now that principle photography has wrapped, I guess there's still a TON more work to be done on the film. I can't wait to see the finished product!!!
#112 | Posted by: The Anime Blog | August 1, 2006 9:35 PM
Yes,I agree, we need to be teased with more Venom pics! I know they're still working on cgi and finishing up the final parts, so when can we expect more venom pics in the near future?

Welcome back. Great trailers and wallpapers, but about 85% of the sites' fans, including me, would like to see something with Venom. I've watched Topher Grace on my favorite show, That 70s' Show, and he's very funny and also should play a great Eddie Brock. Thanks.

I just have a quick question that I think a lot of people are wondering about (and I hope it hasn't been asked already)
I am a HUGE fan of Sam Raimi's work, I've seen everything he's done (I even got to ask a bunch of questions about him to his teacher from college, Bill Vincent, who I did some work with on a student film) and he has a distinct visual style. I didn't notice it so much in the first Spider-man movie, but during the Doc Ock surgery scene in Spider-Man 2 the camera zooms and the tentacle action are very 'Sam Raimi/Evil Dead' and I like it. My question is, will we see more of that type of camera work in Spider-Man 3? I'm hoping each progressive movie will feel more like Sam Raimi.
Thanks a lot.

Kevin,
That is a good question. The first two movies were great, but I do like the third one better and here is why - If you're not going to make the 3rd one better, why make it? You have to up the stakes. The story has to be better, the VFX have to be better. You HAVE to make it better for yourself and the fans or you are wasting time. I think you're going to feel the same way when you see it and I look forward to that time. Hope you are well and have a great weekend.

Beautiful Job Cast and Crew for SpiderMan 3, we got great actors playing parts they were destined to and what a genius director, man they can not stop making these movies until their is a Spider Girl- u know mj and petes daughter/ But Thank You Mr. Curtis for keeping us informed and next to Venom I really want to see Carnage in these movies, I personally think James Woods with red hair would make a great Carnage( Cletus Kasady) or that red haired guy From letterman

#162 | Posted by: kennedy k | August 4, 2006 11:40 PM
Mr. Curtis: What makes the Spiderman movies so great is how you and your team "grow" the characters with each sequel. Unlike the original movies of Superman, which got silly in story and character development, you take Spiderman seriously, making sure the story lines keep with the original comic books. I am looking forward to see how Tobey Maquire "matures" in the role of Peter. He is such an accomplished actor that he can delve deep into Peter's psyche. Tobey can say so much without saying a word.
We can't wait for Spiderman 3!!!!!!

Mr. Curtis,
I'm a big Spider-Man fan from Turkey and i love the job that you've done with the first two Spidey movies. I'm watching again and again behind the sceen footages in DVDs with enthusiasm to understand how did you achive such a success in these movies. I'm interesting in visual effect works, i hope someday i can be a part of your future projects in SPI:)
by the way,
WE WANT A PREMIERE FOR SPIDER-MAN 3 IN TURKEY!!!
#171 | Posted by: CBB | August 7, 2006 6:28 AM
It's great to see you're answering our questions Mr. Curtis. We can't wait for the movie, here in Spain too. I have three questions for you (that their answers may reveal a little bit of the plot of the movie, but anyway..)
Is the origin of the Venom symbiote similar to its Ultimate version of it?or more like the traditional Marvel Universe version?(I mean the animated series version, not the Secret War one, obviously) If you don't want to answer this question(or you're not allowed), can you just tell us if the suit is just a suit, or is it an alien symbiote??
Another question would be this one: Is Venom going to be bigger than Eddie Brock without the suit or is he going to be more or less as big as Spidey?
And the last one: Is Venom going to have a white spider on his back too, like in the original design?(I'm already supposing there will be a big one on his chest)
Thanks for the attention and sorry about my english!
#172 | Posted by: Pakess | August 7, 2006 8:53 AM
Hey Mr.Curtis, bring photos of VENOM plzz. You have done a great job and this movie will pwn all!
#173 | Posted by: 3rd Generation Symbiot of Venom | August 7, 2006 9:40 AM
Mr. Curtis,
Is the trailer shown at Comic Con featuring Venom even on the internet? Will there be a Spider Man 4? Since Harry Osborn (as the new Goblin) is not going to be called Green Goblin II or Hobgoblin, what will he be called? Why is the movie being delayed for so long? Finally, why are there 3 villains in this film? One villain has been working very well in the other movies.
Thanks for answering everyone's questions, Mr. Curtis. Please answer mine too!

Dear Mr. Curtis,
I know that it has been discussed on the boards and it has been wildly tossed around by many of the fans, but I think we should ask someone who actually worked on the movie. So my question is, could we possibly see a Venom spin-off like in the comics, or is it too early, or is it just not a possibility? Please let me know. Until then, good job and may God bless!

Though I just love Spider man and everything associated with him from the first cartoon of the 60's to the new 21 century revitalization with Tobey Mcguire, I was wondering has Spiderman/Peter Parker ever have a female counterpart as a 'side kick?
#187 | Posted by: Tina T | August 10, 2006 6:53 PM
Yes! We get to post stuff and glad you can respond. I hope everything has gone well. I know you can't say much, however, do you have a clue why Alfred Molina's stunt man was rumored to be on the list of actors? If you can't say why, that's ok Thank you.

Hello Grant, I mean Mr. Curtis.
Oh I hope I can forego the formalities and just call you Grant. It is more personal and besides saves time in regards to typing it all over again each time.
In regards to Venom and Spiderman and continuity...
If I am not mistaken Grant, it was Jay Jonah Jamieson's son that brought the entity back to earth from a Space Shuttle mission. Then Venom latched on to him, then to Spidey/Peter Parker, and then found a home finally with Peter Parker's rival photographer at the Bugle.
Has that progression been addressed in the movie in regards to the comic continuity? How much liberties were the writters and Sam given in terms of Venom from those at the Marvel Uniserve as to maintaining the proper spirit of Venom; and the whole struggle and torment in the evolution inside both Peter Parker the person and Peter Parker as Spiderman and dealing with the infamous line: "With great power comes great responsibility."
Thanks for this, Grant and look forward to both your answer and ultimately like the plethora of fans here, the movie itself, wish it would come out sooner than May 2007 though now that we have the perverbial carrot dangling in our collective faces.
Sincerely,
Bruce Donohue

Hi Grant,
Greetings from Konya, Turkey. First of all i would like to thank you for the fact that you are 'listening' tot the fans. Preciate it very much. We've heard tobey maguire saying the movie is open ended. Don't you think spiderman got enough enemies to make 3 more movies ? Wouldn't it be a nice idea (for hopefully next movies) to have 'guest appearances' of a few x-men? Take care Grant.

Just a quick question....
Will Michael Chabon be involved in the film as he was in the first sequel?
#197 | Posted by: Danny | August 16, 2006 8:37 PM
mr. Curtis,
I just have to say after studing the films repeatedly and seeing the teaser trailer i have never seen a film more intesifing. I mean you and Sam, Tobey and Laura I dont know what it is but when you all are all together working as a team it really does all come together. At every angle of the films the acting, directing, everything is just amazing. it really truly couldnt get any better. Now i did try so very hard to find casting calls for gwen stacey because i always wanted to be here in a movie. but im sure bryce does excelent. Mr. curtis you and the spiderman team are such an inspiration on me. You all have made a great impact on my life. I am a struggling musician, and everytime i see things like this it makes me wanna push so much harder and i thank all of you for that. especially tobey because i know he's grew up having nothing and knwing hardly anyone and thats me now, and i hope i can achieve half as much as him. So Please please tell him thank you for me. Pat sam and laura, and yourself on the back for me. I really appreciate everything. Kepp these wonderful movies comming. Thier what motivates me. All i can say is wow. im honered to have this talk with you.
thanks so much
forever a fan,

Hello, Mr. Curtis-
First of all, thanks for your efforts in keeping this blog. It keeps the Spider-Man fan base excited about the upcoming film, and truly shows Sony's commitment to the Spider-Man audiences. It's a LOT of reading and typing for you - we truly appreciate it.
Second - I'm having a discussion with some colleagues about the SM3 trailer. (Awesome, btw.) In the scene where an explosion occurs next to Harry's head, when you slow the frame-rate down to individual shots, it looks like a Green Goblin helmet appears in the flames of the explosion.
I remember your postings about the sound-layering from SM2... Is this "Goblin Face" an intentional layering from one of your SFX team members? Please tell me that it was on purpose, and not just a fixment of my spidey-hyped imagination...
Thanks again - can't wait for the film!!!!

I was really glad to see Peter use his spider-strength in the second movie. There are many
amazing things he can do.
Will we get to see him
wall crawl more in Spiderman 3??? In the
movies we see him stick to walls and web swing a bunch but not really see him climb things.
He can also leap and we never really see that either. :(
Also I'd like to see
unique camera shots that show the audience just how good his agility is!!!
Also Spiderman is famous
for taunting villians with his humor during fights.
Will Spidey get to joke around???
Just wondering??
#201 | Posted by: Jakeroo | August 20, 2006 12:42 AM
Will the extra villain be Lizard or Mysterio?
#202 | Posted by: Joey w. | August 20, 2006 4:25 PM
Is it true you can see someone or something in the reflection in spider man's eye lense from the first wallpaper.
#203 | Posted by: Alexis fandino | August 21, 2006 6:03 PM
Little question, are there still going to call him the Green Goblin or the Hob Goblin ?
#204 | Posted by: Nick | August 26, 2006 12:03 PM
Nick, no he will not be called neither green gobin II or hob goblin. but something diffrent they never released the name. just thought i would let you know! =)

I am a huge spiderman fan.....And i have been waiting for 2 movies to see venom. When will there be pics of him or a 2nd trailer?......is venom done in all cgi?
#206 | Posted by: Thomas | August 26, 2006 5:48 PM
Sorry, one more question, and I don't want to sound so negative, I love the 1st 2 movies. Is Sam doing too much for just 1 movie? With whats going on with Sandman, Harry, the black suit, Venom, and Gwen. It just seems like he won't have enough time to dedicate to develop the stories and people. That has been the strength of the Spider-Man movies thus far.
#207 | Posted by: Steve | August 27, 2006 4:01 PM
Hey I dont know a whole lot about Spiderman like the comics and all but I have a question that I hope can be answered, what makes him turn black and original colors at different time does he get distracted like in the 2nd one when he loses his powers or is it because of Venom.
,thanks
#208 | Posted by: Cam | August 29, 2006 3:31 PM
steve ,
i really dont think youll have to worry about sam not dedicating enough to the story and the characters. he's so wonderful about smoothing everything out. he's one of the best and he knows exactly what he's doing. =) trust me none of us will be dissapointed. i know what your saying but believe me sam will make it work. he always can!! =)

#215 | Posted by: MARCO A GARCIA | November 12, 2006 7:28 AM
Grant, I just wanted to say hi and i hope y'all are having as much fun working on the movie as i am sitting at home waiting for it to come out. In fact, i kinda hope you're having more fun cause sitting at home is quite boring. But the new trailer was very helpful in delaying my boredom. hehehe.
Hope you're well...
Justin
p.s. Say hi to Mr. Raimi for me.
#216 | Posted by: justinjwood | November 12, 2006 2:57 PM
Dear. Mr. Grant. I've been a huge fan since the first spider-man movie. I really enjoyed your blog last movie and am happy you're writing for us again. You take so much time and it's really appreciated.
I do have a question please. I've been a member of the spider-man movie network for a couple of years. I love the site but I go to other sites to get current news and features. I think the sony site should have trailers or breaking news first. Why doesn't it work that way?
#217 | Posted by: Terri A. | November 12, 2006 8:54 PM
hi, im Ash FROM CALiforna. Oh My Goddnesss..
That trailer looks sooooooo goood, but i have a question, is there going to be spider-man 4?
and what is harry doing in the suit, it looks like he didn't use the gas andis it ture that venom is going to be in a lab?the slim demon suit thingy.
#218 | Posted by: Ash | November 13, 2006 6:56 AM
Mr Curtis, my name is Jacob and I am a Broadcast Media major at the University of Central Missouri (formerly CMSU). I just want you to know that I am a big fan of the work you have done on the spiderman films and that you are one of the people that inspired me to pursue a career in movies.

i thought the first two spiderman films hit the nail on the head! great stuff! kinda rare when a film captures a moment when relating them to comic books but the characters are fantistic in the films brings everything to life! good luck on the third film, spiderman 3, carnt wait to see it, hope there will be more! take care
#220 | Posted by: jason | November 13, 2006 1:03 PM
Welcome back Mr.Curtis! Spiderman 3 is going to be so cool.
I desire to be filmmaker when I grow up and want to turn all my characters into stand alone and combined movies.
Please tell MR. Raimi I said hello. I pray the edit goes well!

thanks sony 4 bringing the amazing spidey to theaters worldwide.
im very excited 4 the 3rd installment, i hope it surpases the all the box office charts world wide and also here in the philippines. in fact, spider man movies performed very well here in the philippines inspite of piracy around the world.
good luck to all of the cast, production crews, the sony pictures and marvel for the spiderman 3
PLEASE WATCH SPIDERMAN 3 IN CINEMAS AND NO TO PIRACY!!!!!!!!

first, forgive my bad english. i´m spanish and i`ve never written a comment in english. i don´t know if you have answered to this question before, but i´m intrigued. in this movie spidey wears the black suit, but there is no trace of VENOM. and i think (it´s just my opinion) that a movie with the suit black without Venom is a sin!! I haven´t much time, so taht i can read all the comments. if you´ve just answered to a comment similar, forgive me, but i´ll be very pleased to read a comment from you to me.
THANKS
#223 | Posted by: carlos alberto | November 14, 2006 8:21 AM
atleast give me if venom will be in the movie or not....and i dont mean just the black obvious suit that peter parker possesses before he rips it off and it find brock...is huge muscle bound venom in it...PLEASE I NEED TO KNOW!
#224 | Posted by: gary | November 14, 2006 12:07 PM
Mr Curtis. Gotta say that I have always been a Batman fan (sorry)! That said, Spidey 1 and 2 are the best comic book films I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. Caught the new trailer the other day and I've got one thing to say. You guys should have put some kinda health warning on the start of that trailer because It made me that excited that I nearly had a heart attack!! I was a bit sceptical about the film being so crammed full of characters with stories to tell but that trailer blew me away. Thanks for the films so far guys, oh yeah...one last thing, I promise I wont try and take you to court over the damage my face received when my jaw hit the floor watching that trailer!! besides, I am nearly back to eating solids again now!!

It's happy to have something excites me til 2007 May..
like buying a lottery...
I just watched new trailer and....Wow....
Although I knew the story of spiderman in cartoon, I cannot sure anything about story of this movie....
Specially, story between MJ & Peter.....
Thanks for giving something new exiting in my life
PS......If there's something wrong in my English sentense, plz forgive me.....I'm south Korean...18 years old...;;

Mr. Curtis--You really know how to make the people wait. What you have done with these films is incredible, I have followed the comics for years, but you really did not have to do so. You have captured the spirit of the comic so well. I have one question, will we be learning about Eddie Brock, or will he just be thrust into the situation? Thank you for two great films so far. My son and I cannot wait for SM3.

I know you can't reveal this, but what I'm really curious to find out is how the filmmakers introduce the Symbiote. In the comics, Spidey got it from a machine while in space during the "Secret Wars." I think it's awesome that there's the possibility that Venom will be in SP4. Venom is by far my #1 favorite villain, and Spider-Man is my all time #1 fav super hero.......May 4th is too far away... /cry!!!

I have been a fan of Spiderman since I was a little arachnid myself and I have everything from original lunchboxes to watches to boxing gloves to you name it and I have it so I want everyone to know that I am the biggest fan. I know that this movie is going to be great as they all are. I hope they keep the movies coming, it seemed to work for Star Wars. I will be the first one at the movies and the last one to leave. Keep up the good work and keep your spidey senses keen. Scott

Hello Mr. Curtis,
I am so glad that you are doing this blog, its a great way for die-hard fans to find out useful info!!! I just need to know somethings.... 1. Is this going to be the last Spider-Man movie? 2. Is Venom going to be CGI, real, or both? 3. Will Spider-Man be able to handle a 4th villain? and 4. Who is this 4th villain?
Thanx, because i am a die hard fan... my whole room is Spider-Man, I even have my own Spider-Man bathroom!!!! (Covers, posters, trash can, comics, RUG, the whole nine yards) Well thanx Mr. Curtis, and keep up the good work!!!

Nolan, Topher will not be a good venom he too small the character for eddie brock and venom need to be bigger and actually have some muscle not a little stick figure.

Hello,
Im a huge spiderman fan but doesnt 4 villans mean that the movie will have to be super long or the charechters have smaller parts? I hope that venom isnt a small part at the very end of the movie, hes the coolest. just wondering and cant wait for the movie!!!
#242 | Posted by: Nick | November 21, 2006 6:16 PM
first off i want to express thanks and appreciation for sam raimi and the whole team for doing an amzing job on a comic book adaptation to film. the spider man films (and also batman begins) are the only films i've seen that do justice to the original source. good job. as far as questions i just wanted to be clear on just the villain factor of this film so i can have peace of mind;
so are the villains in this film as follow: sandman, harry, and venom and is venom a big villain in this film (do we see him battle spidey) because from the look of the trailer it looks like harry and sandman are the dominant villains. is this film just an introduction to venom?
if u can answer these than thank you. if not i understand but mainly thank u for doing an amzing job on a treasured comic!

Hey dude. i love the spider-man movies. They seem like they're shapin up to surpass starwars. which would be awsome. Neways i was wondering if computer generation would be like in spider-man 2 because it
