Ted has a great point. If the comics only focused on the seriousness of Peter Parker's double life, it would be so much to take in that people wouldn't want to read them. Even though Hoffman isn't a character in the comics, he does bring some comic relief to the story.

Hoffmen was one of the little guys that just plain mekes the movie so much better. Ted Raimi was a perfect choice. And the fact that he is Sam Raimi's brother makes it even better.
PS. I apologize if I was wrong and he (or you if you are Ted Raimi) is (are) not his brother.

C'mon, guys...with the introduction of Venom...Spider-man 4 (when they make it...) has to be a Carnage film.Spidey vs. Venom and Carnage. Who better to make a Darker, Scarier Spider-man then Sam "Evil Dead" Raimi!!!!! Now that is was the fans want!!!
