WENDIE MALICK as Nina Van Horn Wendie Malick stars as Nina Van Horn, former jet-setting supermodel-turned-fashion editor (and perpetual diva) on the hit comedy Just Shoot Me! Her work on the series was honored with Emmy and Golden Gobe nominations in 1999.
Malick’s other television credits include portraying both Abigail Van Buren and Ann Landers, warring syndicated advice columnists and twin sisters, in the telefilm “Take My Advice: The Ann and Abby Story.” Additionally, Malick garnered four CableACE Awards as “Best Actress in a Comedy Series” for the role of socialite Judith Tupper Stone in the series “Dream On.” Her other television series work includes starring roles in “Trauma Center” and “Good Company,” recurring roles on series such as “NYPD Blue” and “Baywatch” and guest spots on “The X-Files,” “Seinfeld” and “Mad About You.” She also starred in the telefilms “Paper Dolls,” “Dynasty: The Miniseries,” “Apollo II,” “Perfect Body” and “North Shore Fish,” in the role she originated on stage.
Born December 13 in Buffalo, NY, Malick is a former fashion model in real-life. Following a stint working for Congressman Jack Kemp in Washington, D.C., she was signed by the exclusive Wilhelmina agency and modeled for five years, an experience that helped launch her acting career.
In features, Malick has appeared in “The American President,” “Bugsy,” “Scrooged” and “Funny about Love.” More recently, she can be seen in “On Edge,” starring with Jason Alexander; “Cahoots;” “The Emperor’s New Groove,” for which she provided the voice of ChiCha, and “Manna from Heaven,” opposite Louise Fletcher, Shirley Jones, Jill Eikenberry and Cloris Leachman.
Malick’s stage credits include productions of “Guys and Dolls,” “Mame,” “Bah! Humbug,” the premiere of Israel Horovitz’s “North Shore Fish” and the Los Angeles production of Oliver Hailey’s “Round Trip,” for which she was nominated for 1995’s Artistic Directors Award as “Best Lead Actress in a Play.”
Malick is very active in civic and charitable organizations. She is on the Board of Directors of the Environmental Media Association (EMA) and, through its charitable gift fund “A Drop in the Bucket,” she and husband Richard Erickson support a medical center in Congo and share an ongoing commitment to an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. Her efforts were recognized when she was honored as “A Woman of Vision” by Women In Film.
Malick resides in the Santa Monica mountains near Los Angeles with her husband, two horses, three dogs and a cat.
