DENNIS LORTZ
As co-executive producer of RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT!, Lortz oversees all of the show’s production elements including story selection, segment direction, script development, and the overall look of the show. Lortz’s natural ability to identify the world of intriguing and fascinating phenomena has helped make RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OT NOT! into the hit series it is today. In addition to its run on TBS Superstation, RIPLEY’S will launch into national syndication in the fall of 2003.
Born in the Philippines and raised in Chicago, Lortz attended Iowa State University where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism. From there, Lortz began a lengthy career as a news anchor and news producer in various markets across the country, including KDUH-TV in Scottsbluff, Nebraska; KOTA-TV in Rapid City, South Dakota; KDFW-TV in Dallas; and WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C.
Lortz brought his extensive journalism experience with him when he joined “Hard Copy” as a coordinating producer between 1996-1999. Additionally, he served as coordinating producer on the popular dating series “Blind Date,” before coming aboard RIPLEY’S as supervising producer in 2001.
In his spare time, Lortz enjoys mountain biking and traveling. He currently resides with his dog Tucker in Los Angeles.
