POSTED 10-11

I've always been a Wheel-Watcher. I can remember watching the show in my grandma's kitchen after dinner when I was little. When the WheelMobile was here in town, my friend, Shannon, asked me if I wanted to go. While I had interest in going, I never would have gone by myself, so I owe her for this awesome experience! My name was called with the 2nd group of people to play a mini-game, and I solved the puzzle! I was so excited that when the fake Pat, tried to give me a high-five, I jumped up and he accidently hit me on the head.

I got an email about 2 weeks later inviting me to come back for a second audition. I walked into a hotel meeting room and made nervous chit-chat with the other Wheel hopefuls. I made the first cut and felt good about how I performed during the second round, but the contestant coordinators said that if we were chosen as contestants, we'd receive a letter in the mail within 2 weeks. If not, then it was time to move on with my life, I would not be going on Wheel of Fortune.

2 weeks came and went, and I excitedly checked my mailbox, email, and voicemail everyday and nothing came. I thought it was time to move on and forget about the wheel. 2 weeks and 1 day after my second audition, my fiance checked the mail. I yelled downstairs to ask if there was anything for me. He told me no. A minute later, my dog came running into the kitchen with paper in her mouth. As usual, I told her to drop it, but when I looked closer, I realized that this was not junk. I received a hand-addressed envelope with Wheel of Fortune in the return address place. I had been chosen to be a contestant!

In the letter, it stated that I would be called to be on the show sometime in the next 18 months. I actually got the call from the contestant coordinator about 1 months later. We played phone tag for several days and I actually ended up booking my flight before actually confirming I was going to be on the show! My fiance had a trip booked to England during the taping of the show and would not able to go with me. I recruited my future sister-in-law, my sister, and her boyfriend to come along with me on my journey.

One of the biggest stresses I had in preparing to be on Wheel was choosing an outfit! As silly as it sounds, it was very difficult to find something that fit all the rules to look good on TV. I arrived at Sony Pictures Studios early in the morning. We spent the morning practicing, going over legal matters, getting make-up, and chit-chatting. I felt very unprepared when the other contestants talked about all they had done to prepare. I didn't practice online, read about hundreds of past contestants, and know every type of puzzle that ever existed; I only watched the show on TV and played along from my dining room table.

I remember just trying to take it all in and remember every detail of the day. My show was the 5th show taped that day so I had plenty of time to watch the other players tape their shows and learn from them. I didn't start to feel nervous until the 4th show was being taped and my group had to go back for make-up touch ups. Watch my show on Friday, October 15th to see if my nerves got the best of me!
