POSTED 12-27

I was on WheelofFortune.com one day checking to see if my spin id had won and I saw they were asking for contestants so I filled out the application. What did I have to lose? Months passed; I had forgotten I even applied and then I received an email from a member of the WOF staff asking me to come to an audition at the Palazzo in June. I went to the audition not knowing what to expect I overheard people talking about how they had auditioned 3 times already and they're looking for enthusiastic and high energy from the applicants. So, I turned it up a notch.

The Wheel of Fortune team was great. After we all got into the audition room, we played a condensed version of Wheel. When my name was finally called, I stood up and guessed the letter "L" there were 3 of them. It was a Before and After puzzle. I knew the after was "Shake rattle and roll" but I couldn't figure out the before. I tried to buy a vowel. There were only 2 left, 50-50 chance of course I picked the wrong one. The next person picks the last vowel solves the puzzle. It was Protein Shake rattle and roll I could not believe that I couldn't figure it out.

The next step was a 5 minute test. The WOF team passed out the tests. I worked really hard on it. I think there were over 30 puzzles with different letters displayed, maybe more. They were broken up into the different puzzle categories. Some were easy and I got them all. Others, I had no clue for even 1 letter. In some of the puzzles, I thought I was done. After the WOF team graded the tests, they read off names of people to stay. I heard my name; I was through to the next part. So those of us who had our named called stayed.

We played a bigger game of WOF, pretending to spin the wheel, and call letters. I was really excited. Concentrating on the puzzle, I would forget to smile. The WOF staff would keep reminding me to smile; I solved 1 puzzle and won a prize. Then the audition came to an end. They said if we were selected we would hear by the 1st of July. I waited and hoped and prayed. July 1st came and went I was very disappointed that I didn't make it, but on July 3rd I received a call asking me if I could make it to a taping in Las Vegas at the Palazzo. Of course I could and you can find out what happened on that day in my next blog.
