This Week's Contestant

Lisa & Dave T.

Theme: Sweethearts Week
Hometown: Las Vegas, NV
Week of: 02-07-2011

POSTED 2-7

We had always watched Wheel of Fortune and dreamed of the day we would be chosen as contestants. The process wasn't at all what we had expected. We went to the open auditions and filled out a form to be put in the drawing with thousands of others and waited anxiously for our name to be drawn. When it wasn't, we were heartsick. They told us not to give up hope that some names would be drawn at random and then e-mailed for an audition.

So we left with our hopes high. Luckily enough, we received an e-mail for an audition time for Sweethearts Week. When we showed up for the audition, needless to say we were nervous. But the contestant coordinators were amazing and made us feel very comfortable. They had us stand up, one couple at a time, and try to solve puzzles on the screen (very much like the real game.) After everyone had a turn, they had us fill out a worksheet with a bunch of different word puzzles, and then they left us while they looked over the results. When they came back into the room, they started calling couples that they wanted to see more of and dismissed everyone else. We were overjoyed when our names were called! At this point they called us up, three couples at a time, and had us pretend to play an actual game where we would spin the pretend wheel and solve puzzles. We weren't exactly sure of what they were looking for but we decided ahead of time that we would just be ourselves and have a good time no matter what. Finally, they thanked us for coming and told us that only a few couples would be chosen and they would be calling within a couple of weeks.

The weeks seemed to last forever. Every time the phone rang we would race each other to answer it. Then, that amazing day came! The phone rang and we heard the words "We would like you to be contestants on the Wheel of Fortune!" We were really surprised they still wanted us after we screamed into the phone for two minutes straight. But, luckily they did, and we were on the road to one of our biggest dreams coming true. Before the show, we talked all the time about what we would do with our winnings. We have a two year old little girl and had just bought a new house so we really just wanted enough to put a backyard in with a swing set for her. So tune in on February 9th to see if our little girl will be swinging this summer!
