POSTED 7-25

My love affair with Wheel of Fortune first began when I was a little girl hanging out with my Grandma and Grandpa. They would always have it on in the kitchen, the volume turned up way too loud, and I would start shouting out possible answers. And most of the time, which was really all the time, I would solve the puzzle correctly. I had found a game show that not only drilled the alphabet into my head, but was also extremely entertaining and that I rocked at (well, rocked at in my grandparents' kitchen).

Skip ahead a couple decades to when I found out that the Wheelmobile was coming up my neck of the woods: Fargo, North Dakota! I was living in Grand Forks, ND at the time so I had to make the journey down to Fargo so I could make my dreams come true. My friend Kristine and I decided to take a couple days off of work to go to the auditions. This turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.

We arrived in Fargo to try out for America's Game on a beautiful late June day. Kristine was dressed nicely in khakis and a lovely top. I decided to really impress the folks scouting out contestants for the greatest game show ever. I rolled into the audition area decked out in a bright blue, head-to-toe sequin dress. It was my best attempt at looking like the one and only Vanna White: another smart decision on my part.

Kristine made it up onto the "stage" and sadly did not solve the puzzle. When she was introducing herself, she pointed me out in the crowd. I proudly stood up in my best Vanna White look and hooted and hollered! After Kristine's round was over, a member of the contestant department asked for my information. About two months later, I received a call-back for the FINAL AUDITION! I was very excited! My final audition occurred on the day I was moving to Fort Collins, CO. Moving to Colorado was exciting enough, but auditioning for the Wheel was the icing on the cake!

I received "the phone call" that I was selected to be a contestant on Wheel of Fortune while I was training for my new job. Sadly, I could not go at that moment. But, not more than two months after that, I received another phone call to go California. Two minutes after that call, I had my hotel and flight booked, but the fun was only beginning...Tune in July 25th to see how I did!
