POSTED 4-7
On the day of the taping, after receiving numerous instructions on the rules of the game, where to stand on stage, how to clap, how to spin the Wheel, and remembering to smile; I was almost mentally exhausted! I understood how much harder it is to play the actual game in the studio compared to playing along at home. During the first Toss-Up round, the letters started filling in the puzzle and when I suddenly deciphered that the first word of the puzzle was "typewriter," I pushed my buzzer. However, since the puzzle consisted of 2 words, I quickly realized that I hadn't yet figured out the second word and that I wasn't going to be able to answer the puzzle when Pat called my name. I was prepared to be totally embarrassed and tell Pat that I didn't know the answer, but I felt the Holy Spirit tell me to go ahead and at least read the part of the puzzle that I knew. As I read the word "typewriter," the word "ribbon" instantly rolled off my tongue! I had solved the first puzzle! I was amazed!
I didn't solve the second Toss-Up puzzle or the first spinning round, and when it was my turn to spin during the second spinning round, I lost my turn! Miraculously the other two contestants eventually lost their turn and I had another chance. I hadn't yet figured out the puzzle so I decided to work on filling in letters for the words that I did know. Thankfully I landed on the $3,500 wedge and when I guessed the letter "B," there were three of them! At this point I wasn't totally confident about solving the puzzle, since the category was, "The Sixties," and didn't quite fit my age bracket. However, I figured I could make an educated guess, which was "Frankie and Annette in Beach Blanket Bingo." Amazingly, I had solved the puzzle correctly! And, to top it all off, I had totally forgotten that it was a "Prize Puzzle," which was probably evident by the surprised look on my face when Pat told me that I had won a trip to Mazatlan, Mexico! Following that puzzle I didn't win any other spinning rounds, but I did end up solving the $3,000 Toss-Up puzzle, and I was on my way to the Bonus Round!
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to solve the Bonus Round puzzle which was "Go Quietly," (if only I would have asked for a "Q"! Ha ha!), but I really couldn't complain.
I was blessed to have the experience of a lifetime and win over $25,000 in cash and prizes! Praise the Lord!
