POSTED 4-11

I am a child of the 80's. I wore jellies, crimped my hair, listened to Michael Jackson on cassette tapes, and watched Wheel of Fortune at supper time. Whether we watched it at home or at my grandparent's house, I can remember thinking, "My Grandpa and Dad are so good at this game!" And as I got older, I got better at it, too. It was always a dream of mine to be on Wheel of Fortune. But it just seemed like something so impossible to attain. I grew up in Bismarck, North Dakota, and the Wheelmobile hadn't ever traveled to the sparsely populated frozen tundra!

To my joy, the Wheelmobile actually came to Fargo in June of 2010. We were still living in Fargo, but I was vacationing in Bismarck for a couple weeks when it arrived. I debated about whether it was worth the drive to Fargo, because I had such a small chance of actually getting on the show. I'm sure glad I decided to make the trek! At the Wheelmobile event I did a couple things to boost my chances of getting chosen. I wore a hot pink shirt, folded my information card uniquely so it would get drawn, and I talked about my obsession with couponing. I guess my plan worked!

After the Wheelmobile event, I checked my email a million times a day, praying I would see an email from WOF in my inbox. To my joy, I received an email a couple months later, inviting me back for the second round of try-outs. The second round was even more fun and intense than the first. About twenty of us were left at the end, and the contestant coaches told us we'd get a letter in the mail if we were chosen. If we weren't chosen, we'd hear nothing.

Waiting and checking the mailbox is what I did for two weeks, and nothing came. But finally I got the letter! I was in utter shock. I was going to be on Wheel of Fortune! I could not believe it. About four months later I got a phone call asking me to come to the January 28th taping. I was elated! Not only was I going to be on Wheel of Fortune, but I was trading snow and below zero temperatures for beaches and sunshine!

Tune in to Wheel of Fortune on April 14th to see me bursting with joy as my dreams of being on Wheel of Fortune came true
