POSTED 11-17
I've been watching the Wheel of Fortune since the beginning when the contestants would buy prizes with their winnings. I especially loved the ceramic dog. In the mid-80's I got my husband interested in watching the show and now we watch the Wheel every night together. We try to see who can solve first. I usually do. HaHaHa!!! I have wanted to be a Wheel of Fortune contestant for so long. One day while on the internet I found the Wheelmobile was going to be in Roanoke, Virginia. I immediately turned to my husband and told him to pack his bags we are going to Roanoke.
We left Long Island and took the 8 hour drive to Virginia. It was so exciting knowing I would hopefully be auditioning for the Wheel. We arrived in Roanoke to begin our adventure.
At the Civic center at 9 am the next morning the line had already started. I was about fifth in line. We were told about 12 noon to walk in, grab an application, fill it out and drop it in the box. When I saw all the people I never thought I would have a chance. They told us that approximately 1000 people had showed up for the first of 3 auditions that day. I was in the first row, the noise and energy was so exciting. Many names were being called. I started to think I would have to stay for the next audition and try again.
Then to my surprise at the end of the first audition my name was called. I jumped up and down screaming with delight!! I was a little nervous for the audition. It went fairly well. I was told that if I made it, I would receive a call for a second audition. When I received that second call, about a month later, I was screaming so loud I gave myself a headache, but it was well worth it.
The second audition was back to Roanoke again. I was so excited I couldn't believe this was really happening. After playing a few rounds we took a written test. We had 5 minutes to solve about 15 puzzles. I think I solved 5 or 6. I didn't think I had a chance. Again to my surprise, my name was called to go back in the audition room to solve more puzzles and simulate spinning the Wheel. After the audition was over I was told if I was chosen I would receive a letter in 2 weeks. Well...my letter came in 2 weeks and l day. Again I was extremely excited...I waited patiently for the day I would actually be called to be a contestant on the Wheel of Fortune.
Well I finally got the call. You'll have to watch November 12th to see how I did!
