PEAK HOURS...PEAK HOURS...my puzzle for the bonus round. Those words will haunt me for the rest of my life as the phrase" laces out, laces out" did with the great Ray Finkle after he missed his field goal attempt to win the Super Bowl. (Ace Ventura reference for all you 30-somethings out there.) $100,000k down the tubes, baby!!
Ouch, that hurt. It is one thing to not solve the bonus round puzzle, but to lose the top prize on the wheel, devastating. The past 24 hours I had been so elated! To audition and be a contestant all in the same day; I felt as if I were one of those 50-foot inflatable people that mattress stores use to promote a sale. You know, the ones where their arms, head, and body are flailing about to make them look like they are ecstatic about the current sale as the generator pumps hot air up them. That was me flailing my arms and head all day with excitement, only after the Bonus Round, my generator had just burnt a fuse, and I had quickly deflated to the ground.
Luckily, I have a good head on my shoulders, so I smacked myself across the face and snapped out of it. I just had a chance to spin the wheel, I won $10k on the mystery wedge, I met Pat and Vanna, and I won a total of over $20k! What more could anyone ever ask for. I truly went into the day being so grateful to even walk away with just the experience, and the house minimum would have been a bonus. But to make what I did, I am truly grateful and extremely thankful for the whole experience.

Unless being a contestant on "Wheel" qualifies me as a star, and "Dancing with the Stars" comes knocking down my door, then you reading the end of this blog will conclude my fifteen minutes of fame. But these were truly some of the best, most memorable minutes of my life. (And oddly enough, taping a show really does take a little over 15 minutes!) Even though I wasn't able to convert on the $100k, laces out...laces out....I will be investing that $20k for something very useful and functional for all of you stay-at-home-Moms/Queens of the World! Stay tuned...and always remember, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Go for it!
Sincerely,
Kristin R.
P.S. Much thanks to my brother Todd who had 10 hours-notice and took a flight out from Chicago to LA at 6 am to be at my taping, my parents who sent me e-mails including everything about the "Exotic Far East" that they could think of to help prepare me, and to my brother Bryan and sister-in-law Nicole who supported me with their hilarious phone calls and words of support during the whole audition process. And mostly to my husband Jeff, you are my best friend and the one I want to watch "Wheel" with every night of my life." You guys made me who I am and you mean the world to me.
