Please! Please, give me a chance to explain my one very embarrassing moment on the show. A moment that unfortunately will haunt me for the rest of my life! Let me start from the beginning...
Walking onto that set was one of the most nerve racking moments of my life. Even more nerve racking than my days of playing softball in the Women's College World Series on ESPN. I walked onto that set with lights, cameras and eyes all on me. Wow, were the butterflies fluttering in my stomach.
I drew the fourth show that was being filmed that day which gave me an advantage of getting advice from earlier contestants as they came off the stage. Not that it really eased my apprehensions though for as soon as I stepped onto the stage to film my episode, my mind went to a blank.
As Pat and Vanna walked onto the set with the crowd cheering, I felt like I was in a daze. The first toss up started and I couldn't believe that none of us were buzzing in. Almost all the letters filled the board when I finally buzzed in and guessed "industrial highway." Correct! Yay!! Okay, now that the first Toss-Up was over and in my court, my butterflies should be gone, right? Nope! We went into the first puzzle and I couldn't even put words together. I got caught up in all the outside distractions of the game.
So here is where I would like to defend my most embarrassing moment. Because it's so easy as a viewer to guess the puzzles, I would like to let everyone know what other obstacles we the contestants face. First, we have Pat and Vanna there in front of us. Hello....how cool is that? Second, we have about 4 different screens that we can look at throughout the game. We have the money board, used letter board, clock and the puzzle board. Third, we have about three different cameras facing us. Fourth, we have a huge wheel in front of us that we have to spin. Fifth, we have an audience of people starring at us and judging us as to why we haven't guessed the puzzle yet. And finally, we have to guess letters and solve the puzzle. Man! Is that a lot to juggle. So here comes my memorable moment.... "Big - Backyard - Barbecue". All I had to figure out was the word BIG!!!!! I already had the other two words. But at that point I was so anxious that I couldn't figure out this tiny word. I forgot about relating the three words and was only thinking of any three letter words that would fit. So I guessed the vowel "O". As Pat slowly said "no - O" I knew this moment would haunt me for the rest of my life. You better believe my husband and family will not let me live this moment down!
Well, thankfully for me I was able to move forward from my embarrassing moment and ultimately win a new car and an Antigua vacation for two!!!!!!! I was so excited that I won a car that I completely forgot it was a prize puzzle! On top of that.....I also had the Million Dollar Prize piece and was going to the bonus round with it. I have to be honest, at that point the bonus round was such a blur for me because I had already won such great prizes. As soon as the bonus round ended I just wanted to kick myself. The answers seem so obvious once they reveal them. Even though I lost that bonus round I was still so excited that I walked away with over $30 K in prizes!
This was an experience that I will never forget for as long as I live. I would like to thank everyone from the Wheel of Fortune Cast and Crew for a wonderful memory! You guys Rock!
