Some of my earliest memories as a kid are of watching Wheel of Fortune at my grandma's, waiting on my older brother to get home from school. I'm also proud to admit that Vanna White was my first celebrity crush. I am 31 years old and Wheel is celebrating their 30th anniversary, so I guess you could say I've been watching Wheel of Fortune my entire life.

I registered online one night to be on the show out of fun, and had completely forgotten about it, until I received an email inviting me to an audition in Louisville, KY. I was very excited to audition, but was a little intimidated, so I just told myself to have fun and enjoy the experience.

Auditions started with everyone having the opportunity to call out letters and win prizes if you solved the puzzle. We then took a written test, which I thought I bombed, and the show coordinators went outside to make the first cut. I somehow got selected to continue with the audition. Now came a more intense simulated game, and I was able to get several correct letters and solve a puzzle during this. We also had to give a mock interview like they do on the show too. The show coordinators told us that those selected to be on the show would be contacted within fourteen days. Fourteen days to the day I received a letter saying I had been selected to be on the show and that it could be up to eighteen months before actually being contacted to be a contestant. That was on Thursday. The following Monday I received a phone call wanting me out in L.A. in ten days to appear on the show! I immediately booked my flight and got busy practicing. I downloaded the app, played the Nintendo game (made in 1985!) with my roommate, and of course watched the show every night in preparation.

I arrived in L.A. early the day before the taping and got in touch with a close friend I went to school with. She was so gracious and took me around to see all the sights in the city. She also kept me out a little later than I wanted, but this may have been a blessing because I didn't have a chance to sit around and let my nerves get to me. I had prepared as much as I could and went to bed that night confident and anxious about what the following day would hold for me.

Be sure to tune in Wednesday, December 5th, and watch me try my luck on Wheel of Fortune!!!
