POSTED on December 17th, 2012

I have been watching Wheel of Fortune for most of my life. I remember being at my neighbor's house as a child watching the show and she commented on how handsome Pat Sajak was. Who knew many years later I would be on the show standing next to Pat and Vanna!

The Wheelmobile is going to be within a few miles of my house! Now is my chance to try out for my favorite game show! My friend Leslie prepares me for the possible interview process the night before. The day of the Wheelmobile tryout arrived. I can't believe my name was called to go on stage. Although I solved the puzzle there was no guarantee I would be called for another audition. A few weeks later the email came to reserve my spot for the second audition at a hotel a few minutes from my house. I was so excited to have a chance to audition. This was one step closer to possibly being a contestant.

I arrived at the hotel for the second audition along with approximately 60 other "would-be contestants." The contestant coordinators lead us into a room lined with chairs. After writing our names down on a seating chart, the coordinators then randomly called our names. We had to stand, clap, call out letters and try to solve puzzles that were projected on a screen. Next we had 5 minutes to solve as many partially filled in puzzles on a paper. After the papers were collected and graded the group was narrowed down to approximately 20 people and I was part of that small group. We then had a chance to solve more puzzles and practice interviews. After everybody had a chance to practice, a select number of people were called to the front of the room again to call out letters. I was one of those people. What did this mean? Did the coordinators think I could be a contestant?

We were told if we were chosen for the show we would receive a letter in 2 weeks. Hopefully when I get home from vacation the letter will be waiting for me. I came home from vacation but the letter was not in my pile of mail. I was feeling somewhat disappointed. The following week the letter arrived! My husband sent a picture of it to me. I was so excited!

About a month after receiving the letter I had a missed call and voicemail from Culver City, CA. OH NO!!! How did I miss this call? The voicemail said that they would like me to come out in 2 weeks for a taping of the show. Please call back and let us know if you can make it. I returned the phone call to confirm I would be there.

I booked my flight and hotel! My husband and I are going to Culver City! I still can't believe this is becoming a reality.

Watch Wheel of Fortune Wednesday, December 19th to see how I played!
