The day is finally here! I am on my way to Sony Pictures Entertainment Studio with many other contestants. This does not seem real.
The awesome contestant coordinators go over strategies and rules of the game. I have my make-up done for the HD cameras. Most contestants tape a promotional segment for their local TV stations.
The stage looks absolutely beautiful! I am so happy to be part of the "Home for the Holidays" week. Vanna makes a surprise appearance as we are given a tour of the stage and shares some advice with us. BUY VOWELS! Vanna also wishes us the best. We all get a chance to spin the heavy wheel and call out letters. I am told I should speak a little louder when calling out letters. The platforms we are standing on are adjusted according to our height.
The time has come to start taping the six shows. I will be taping show 3 of 6. This will give me a chance to watch other people play. I am both excited and nervous. It's time to play! I take my spot in the middle. Pat and Vanna make their way to the stage. This is really happening!!
I am not able to solve either of the toss up puzzles at the beginning. When I finally get a chance to call a letter, I say it then repeat it because I fear I am not loud enough. Pat jokes about this. I landed on a 1/2 car and try to pick it up without guessing a letter first. Oh no, I knew I would do something like this. Pat, being so quick with his jokes, said the car alarm might go off if I pick it up without guessing a letter. This puts me a little at ease. I did guess a letter and was able to pick up the 1/2 car.
I know the answer to the prize puzzle but will I get a chance to solve it? It's finally my turn so I spin the wheel and solve the puzzle. ROARING WATERFALLS. I am going to HAWAII! My husband and I really wanted to win a trip. Hawaii is perfect. Maybe we could spend our 5th anniversary there. I was able to solve another puzzle and much to my surprise I was going to the bonus round. I practiced spinning the bonus wheel. When we come back from commercial break Pats asks me who I have in the audience. I introduce my husband Dave. I spin the wheel and Pat leads me by the hand to my spot on the stage.
The category is "Thing." The letters R, T and E are revealed. I pick my letters and the puzzle is clear after some of my letters are shown. HEAVY OVERCOAT gets me a brand new JEEP CHEROKEE! I thought my husband was going to knock me over when he ran on stage and pulled me to the JEEP. I still can't believe all of this is happening.
My family and friends are so excited that I was on Wheel of Fortune.
Thank you to everyone involved in the production of the show. You are an amazing group of people!
