OLD BREAD

| | Comments (6)

Do you have old bread in your cabinet but no birds to feed it to? Instead of throwing away old bread, break it up into pieces and use it to make bread crumbs, bread pudding, French toast, or meatloaf. You can also put the leftover bread pieces in your freezer and use them later.

I've also heard that if you place a slice of bread in hardened brown sugar, it will soften it up. Has anyone tried that?

How do make french toast with "old bread broke into pieces"?

It does work! My grandmother-in-law told me to do that and it broke the clumps right up!

I have always used a part of an apple in the brown sugar. For old bread I use it to drain bacon on then use it in stuffing after a few times ( I keep it in the refregerator in between times).

Vanna that is a good idea... Sometimes we feed the ducks with old bread you can too! Your idea is great! I'll try it sometime Thanks your fan: MayLyn

I haven't tried the bread in hardened brown sugar, but I heat hardened brown sugar in the microwave to soften...that works.

Vanna I keep bread in my brown sugar and it works. I also put stale bread in my food processor and then season them with an Italian seasoning.
