1987 - THE WHITE HOUSE

| | Comments (6)
I was invited to the White House in 1987 while President Ronald Reagan was in office. I went on a private tour and got to see the Oval Office. It was quite an honor. The most amazing part of the tour occurred when we stepped into a room with a TV in it. You will never guess what was playing on TV at that moment. Wheel of Fortune was on! I promise I did not make this up! There were several other celebrities in the room and we stopped our tour and played the round until someone solved the puzzle! Then we continued on. Oh, the puzzle was "IRISH COFFEE".

Dear Vanna, I hope you will be able to help me. I started your collection of "Vanna's Afghan and Crochet Favorites" from Oxmoor House several years ago. I did not get a chance to finish it and Oxmoor House was unable to help me. I have up thru chapter 18 and would love to finish this. I bought it so I could enjoy crochet in my retirement,{getting close}I love your patterns and easy to follow instructions. I have made many items from this already.I could find no other way of contacting you.Is there any way you could help me? I would love to purchase the rest of your collection.
Thank You,
Gay Jamison

I too have been watching the Wheel for years. It always stays something I can watch and enjoy and challenges me to play along. I do word search puzzels as well. When my husbands health started decliningin 1999 and continued to fail until he passed away in 2005 I carried a puzzel book with me to the hospital to keep me "sane" during the long waits or days when he was too ill to talk.
I think it helped to preserve my mind. Why I tell you this I don't know.
My main reason for writing was to say how much I admire the way you do your job year after year and stay so attractive. It isn't the clothes or the make-up it's the person inside. The clothes are terrific but only you could wear some of them!
Thanks for bringing something entertaining and
fun into my life. God bless.

Vanna,

That must have been a unique experience - even for you. Here you are at the White House, and the White House is already watching you on television. :-O ...I can't help but think of that old show biz saying: "Wherever you go, there you are!"

This would have been a wonderful experience! Especially because the president was Ronald Reagan. I think the best part of this story is that Wheel Of Fortune was on. If I were you, I would just about die!
Great Story and I admire you,
Kristen.
P.S. I love your beautiful dresses. My mom Roseann and I always guess to see if you will wear a short or long dress each day. I love when you wear short dresses!

WOW Vanna!
I would love to go to the white house and meet the president.
Haw spicial to have the wheel of fortune on the TV when you came to vist!
I'm so happy that you got to go there and I will let you know when I go there haw it went.
Thanks Vanna for sharing.

Hi Vanna: I am 90 years old and have watched "Wheel of Fortune" for more years than I can remember, with my hubby. He passed on 3 years ago. Since that time, on Monday nights my daughter and family bring my dinner and we all watch together. We have a contest.... You are a beautiful lady. Hope you are the "Wheel Lady" until you are my age..... thank you.
