Welcome back to another wonderful summer session at Rawley Academy. If you are new to our phenomenal learning establishment, as so many of you are, prepare to be exposed to what could be the greatest educational experience of your lives. On behalf of the art department at our outstanding school, prepare to be exposed to the most thought-provoking and eye-opening art curriculum you have ever seen.
I'm sure that some of you are telling yourselves, "I can't draw or paint." Well, we understand at Rawley that not everyone can paint like Picasso or mold like Michelangelo. So in turn, what we would like to do is light the fire of passion for art that is burning inside of all of you, even if you're not aware that you had one yet.
Just because you may not be able to paint or draw like a top starving artist of our time, doesn't mean you won't appreciate viewing works of art from around the world. So, as part of your thought-provoking and eye-opening summer growing experience, we are encouraging you to visit at least one art exhibit in your area to see if you can discover the passion now until August (surf to www.clemusart.com for more information). If you are out on the west coast, try to catch the Rene Magritte exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. This exhibition includes highlights of Magritte's cutting edge style of painting and presents a general overview of Magritte's works, with emphasis on recurring themes (go to www.sfmoma.org ). If you need further help to find exhibitions and museums in your area, check out the Art Museum Network's website at www.amn.org for a comprehensive listing of galleries and exhibitions in your area of the country.
See you there!
