• TriStar Pictures and Entertainment One’s Romantic Comedy, Happiest Season, Starring Kristen Stewart, to Stream Exclusively on Hulu in the U.S. this Holiday Season

    CULVER CITY, October 20, 2020 – Sony Pictures Entertainment, Entertainment One and Hulu announced today that the streaming platform has acquired U.S. rights to Clea DuVall’s holiday romantic comedy, Happiest Season, which will debut as a Hulu Original film on Hulu on Wednesday, November 25. Sony Pictures and eOne co-financed the film and will retain distribution rights in Canada and the rest of the world. Overseas plans, including potential theatrical releases, will be finalized in the coming weeks.

Under the multi-year deal, the studio will be offered first consideration for narrative feature films submitted to the Festival, and year-round access and introductions to emerging filmmakers discovered by Jeff Friday, CEO of JFM. 

  • Nicole Brown Named President of TriStar Pictures

    CULVER CITY, CA -- October 13, 2020 -- Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) announced today that Nicole Brown has been promoted to president of TriStar Pictures, extending her contract with the studio to continue oversight of the specialty label. Last year, Brown was appointed to head TriStar Pictures as executive vice president. She will continue to report to Tom Rothman, chairman of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, and oversee all of TriStar’s film development and production.

  • Spike Jonze Joins Sony Pictures Classics’ Nine Days As Executive Producer

    NEW YORK (October 12, 2020) – Sony Pictures Classics announced today Spike Jonze has joined as Executive Producer of Edson Oda's NINE DAYS and the film will be released in theaters early 2021. Additionally, Sony Pictures Classics has also acquired the rights in Asia, Israel, Turkey and the rest of Europe, making it a worldwide Sony Pictures Classics release. The film will next be seen in the Hamptons Film Festival and AFI, among others.
