CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at SPE is responsible for the studio's strategic philanthropic efforts, cultural participation, and community outreach activities and supports the studio’s commitment to invest in partnerships with organizations and institutions that provide the tools and access to allow the next generation to discover, prepare for and pursue careers in the creative sector and entertainment industry. The CSR department works closely with the Diversity & Inclusion team, Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs), Sustainability department, Film and TV divisions, and SPE offices worldwide to achieve this goal.

To support this work, CSR has created robust initiatives and multi-stakeholder programs with non-profit organizations, providing the foundation on which the company can optimize its external impact and fulfill its role as a good corporate citizen. CSR accomplishes this by making connections, providing resources, fostering collaborations, and sharing expertise, at the local, city, county, state, national and global level as well as:

  • Partnering with organizations and institutions dedicated to promoting creativity and innovation, digital media arts and career readiness in creative industries for underrepresented youth and emerging talent.

  • Working collaboratively to build and protect sustainable communities.

  • Supporting the cultural vibrancy of the communities where SPE employees live and work.

  • Engaging Sony Pictures employees to volunteer and mentor youth to expose them to diverse career fields through workplace based, real-life experiences.

  • Empowering employees to engage and support causes that are important to them.

CORPORATE GIVING
Corporate Giving

Information about the philanthropic efforts of our parent and sister companies and corporate giving guidelines can be found by visiting the Sony Corporation of America website by clicking here.

Eligible nonprofit charitable organizations may submit proposals throughout the year for Sony Pictures Entertainment's support by completing our online grant application.

Grants are evaluated for the project’s or program's expected outcomes and demonstrations of good community investments. Due to limited funds, priority is given to proposals supporting creative career pathways and workplace training as it relates to the entertainment industry. If you are seeking programming support, event sponsorship or in-kind donations, please fill out the corresponding applications. Please note: we concentrate our giving in the Culver City/Los Angeles County area.

NOTE: SPE reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine which, if any, organizations and programs it will support. Sony Corporate Giving Guidelines may be modified or discontinued at any time without notice.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Community Involvement

As we look to build equity and provide opportunities and career pathways to jobs in the entertainment sector for youth, Sony Pictures is dedicated to providing the tools and access to build a more diverse talent pipeline into the creative economy. The company has helped establish and fund unique programs such as the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts and the Front & Center Theatre Collaborative with the Culver City Unified School District, the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture Arts Ed Collective, the Entertainment Community Fund Teaching Artist Program and the Sony Pictures Media Arts Program – a collaborative initiative between Sony Pictures, the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and California Institute of Art Community Arts Partnership.
