  • SONY PICTURES HOME ENTERTAINMENT ELEVATES RETAIL PROMOTIONS TEAM
  • Brian Gartland Promoted to Executive Director, Maria Nunez to Director

    CULVER CITY, CALIF., July 16, 2009 - Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) today announced the promotions of Brian Gartland to Executive Director of Retail Promotions and Maria Nunez to Director, Retail Merchandizing. The announcement was made by Noam Meppen, Vice President of Retail Promotions and Merchandising, to whom both will report.

    In his new role, Gartland will lead the SPHE Retail Promotions team, overseeing all promotional activity and marketing at the retail level. Nunez will continue to focus on in-store merchandising and execution, ensuring successful product placement and sell-through at retail.

    In making the announcement, Meppen stated, "Brian has developed a variety of tools to improve processes and inter-departmental communication and he successfully negotiated new vendor contracts to save the company millions of dollars per year in expenses. I am pleased to acknowledge his leadership and contributions to SPHE with this promotion."

    Of Nunez, Meppen continued, "Over her five years of service at SPHE, Maria has consistently demonstrated a commitment to best in class performance and to SPHE's drive to be number one with our customers."

    Before joining SPHE in 2008 as a Director of Retail Merchandising, Gartland was Director of Retail Marketing for Sketchers USA, overseeing marketing efforts in 250 retail locations. Gartland holds two B.A.degrees in Business Marketing and Economics from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

    Nunez joined SPHE in 2005 as an Analyst in Retail Merchandising and has since been promoted twice. Previous to SPHE, she worked as a Merchandising Service Representative at MGM Home Entertainment.
