Sony Pictures Television Begins Production In Colombia On New Teleseries Bloque De BÚsqueda

Rafael Novoa, Sebastian Martinez, Carolina Gomez and Veronica Orozco set to star

MIAMI and BOGOTA, September 23, 2015 — Sony Pictures Television has begun production in Colombia on Bloque de Búsqueda, a new original series about the group who brought down one of Colombia's most powerful mobsters, Pablo Escobar. The 70-episode, one-hour teleseries is being distributed by Sony Pictures Television across Latin America, the U.S. Hispanic market, and around the globe.

"There is a strong appetite across the region for smart scripted programming about real people and events," says Angélica Guerra, senior vice president and managing director, production, Latin America and U.S. Hispanic for Sony Pictures Television. "While many are familiar with Pablo Escobar, Bloque de Búsqueda explores the less-familiar story of the heroes who ultimately captured him and the tremendous impact that it had on their families."

"In this highly competitive TV market, we are continuing to raise the bar on local content with powerful and relevant storytelling," says Alexander Marin, senior vice president, distribution, Latin America and US Hispanic, for Sony Pictures Television. "The fall of the world's most notorious drug dealer continues to captivate people to this day, so we anticipate that Bloque de Búsqueda will have very broad appeal."

Bloque de Búsqueda tells the untold story of Colonel Hernán Martín and Captain Antonio Gavilán, the men who created the elite Block Search task force to track down Pablo Escobar. Knowing the only way to catch a criminal was to think and act like one, Martín and Gavilan operated on the edge of the law, aligning with his enemies and putting their lives, as well as those of their families, on the line in order to bring Colombia's most ruthless and elusive mobster to justice.

Bloque de Búsqueda stars Rafael Novoa (Sala de Urgencias) as Hernán Martín, Sebastián Martínez (El Estilista, Rosario Tijeras ) as Captain Gavilán, Carolina Gomez (Mentiras Perfectas) as Milena de Martin, Veronica Orozco (A Corazón Abierto) as Ana Maria de Gavilán, Bryan Moreno (Lady la Vendedora de Rosas) as Hernán Martin Jr., and Laura Londoño (Escobar: Paradise Lost) as Olga Diez. The teleseries is written by Jorg Hiller (Sala de Urgencias, Tiro de Gracia) and directed by Israel Sanchez and Rodrigo Lalinde. Luis Eduwardo Jimenez serves as executive producer.

Sony Pictures Television develops, adapts and produces original Spanish-language programming for audiences across Latin America, the U.S. Hispanic market, and around the world. The studio pioneered the teleseries genre and today boasts a robust portfolio of high-caliber primetime programming that includes Metástasis, El Mariachi, Señorita Pólvora and El Dandy. One of the studio's latest teleseries project, Lady, La Vendedora de Rosas, is currently the No. 1 show in Colombia for 2015.

Bloque de Búsqueda is the latest self-commissioned project from Sony Pictures Television, following En la Boca del Lobo and Anónima.
