CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Sony Pictures empowers employees to engage with their colleagues to benefit the community, individuals and our company. Our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts are focused on arts, education, diversity and the environment, as well as giving in the communities closest to our headquarters...
- CORPORATE GIVING
Information about the philanthropic efforts of our parent and sister companies and corporate giving guidelines can be found by visiting the Sony Corporation of America website by clicking here.
Eligible nonprofit charitable organizations may submit proposals throughout the year for Sony Pictures Entertainment's support by completing our online grant application.
Grants are evaluated for the project’s or program's expected outcomes and demonstrations of good community investments; additional documentation or information may be requested upon submission. Due to limited funds, priority is given to grants aimed at arts and culture, education, the environment, diversity initiatives and workplace training as it relates to the entertainment industry. If you are seeking event sponsorship or in-kind donations, please fill out the corresponding applications. Please note: we concentrate our giving in the Culver City/Los Angeles County area.
- COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
As we look to build equity and provide opportunities and career pathways to jobs in the entertainment sector for under-served youth in the communities where we live and work, Sony Pictures is dedicated to providing the tools and access to the next generation of workers in the creative economy. We do this through investments in initiatives that restore arts education curriculum to local schools and through collaboration, contribution and employee engagement.
The company has helped establish and fund unique programs such as the specialized Academy of Visual and Performing Arts at Culver City High School, the Sony Pictures Media Art Program with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and CalArts Community Arts Partnership and Los Angeles County Arts Commission Arts Ed Collective.
Our employee volunteer program, “ACT” regularly offers up a wide variety of activities for employees, partnering with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Tree People, Midnight Mission, Los Angeles Regional Foodbank and Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
Sony Pictures has a long history of entertaining diverse audiences. With our vast content across all genres and platforms enjoyed by hundreds of millions of people around the world, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of what we do. Through a vibrant culture, which applauds individual talent, celebrates differences and values contributions from a diverse workforce, Sony Pictures offers a variety of resources for employees and partners. Some key initiatives include:
- ROAD TO ZERO PROGRAM
Road to Zero is Sony's global environmental plan, striving to achieve a zero environmental footprint throughout the life cycle of our products and business activities. For more information about Sony Corporation's global environmental initiatives, visit the environmental section of Sony’s CSR Web site.
- A GREENER WORLD
Sony Pictures’ A Greener World empowers its worldwide employees to lower their footprint and get involved in protecting our environment at home and at work. We offer several workplace programs that encourage company-wide participation in sustainable living.
- PRODUCTION PRACTICES
Sony Pictures and its productions are committed to minimizing their impact on the environment by modeling sustainable behaviors both behind the scenes and on-screen. To support our corporate environmental targets, our Sustainability team works with features and television shows under its Sustainable Production Program, establishing environmental impact-reduction strategies at the core of each production's operations. Further, we take opportunities to positively portray sustainable behaviors on-screen, when appropriate.
Sony Pictures is committed to playing our part towards greater environmental responsibility. We believe in leaving our world better than we found it, aiming to reduce our ecological footprint by pursuing policies and actions that combat climate change, preserve natural resources and protect the health and safety of our community. We have several programs in place that support our sustainability goals.
- DIVERSE DIRECTORS PROGRAM
Now entering its sixth year, the Sony Pictures Television Diverse Directors Program is committed to helping emerging directors from a wealth of different backgrounds and experiences build knowledge, understanding and TV industry relationships to prepare them to transition to episodic television series directors. Program participants attend meetings with executives, producers and working DGA directors and may ultimately be selected to shadow directors on episodes of scripted SPT series. Visit their website for more information about the program and eligibility guidelines.
- EMPLOYEE BUSINESS RESOURCE GROUPS
Sony Pictures’ Employee Business Resource Groups are communities within the company formed by employees who share a commonality or interest. The groups provide their members with outlets to professional development, networking and community outreach opportunities, as well as promote a culture of understanding, acceptance, and inclusion. These groups are open to all Sony Pictures employees.
