Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at SPE is responsible for the studio's strategic philanthropic efforts, cultural participation, and community outreach activities and supports the studio’s commitment to invest in partnerships with organizations and institutions that provide the tools and access to allow the next generation to discover, prepare for and pursue careers in the creative sector and entertainment industry. The CSR department works closely with the Diversity & Inclusion team, Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs), Sustainability department, Film and TV divisions, and SPE offices worldwide to achieve this goal.

To support this work, CSR has created robust initiatives and multi-stakeholder programs with non-profit organizations, providing the foundation on which the company can optimize its external impact and fulfill its role as a good corporate citizen. CSR accomplishes this by making connections, providing resources, fostering collaborations, and sharing expertise, at the local, city, county, state, national and global level as well as:

  • Partnering with organizations and institutions dedicated to promoting creativity and innovation, digital media arts and career readiness in creative industries for underrepresented youth and emerging talent.

  • Working collaboratively to build and protect sustainable communities.

  • Supporting the cultural vibrancy of the communities where SPE employees live and work.

  • Engaging Sony Pictures employees to volunteer and mentor youth to expose them to diverse career fields through workplace based, real-life experiences.

  • Empowering employees to engage and support causes that are important to them.

Corporate Giving

Information about the philanthropic efforts of our parent and sister companies and corporate giving guidelines can be found by visiting the Sony Corporation of America website by clicking here.

Eligible nonprofit charitable organizations may submit proposals throughout the year for Sony Pictures Entertainment's support by completing our online grant application.

Grants are evaluated for the project’s or program's expected outcomes and demonstrations of good community investments. Due to limited funds, priority is given to proposals supporting creative career pathways and workplace training as it relates to the entertainment industry. If you are seeking programming support, event sponsorship or in-kind donations, please fill out the corresponding applications. Please note: we concentrate our giving in the Culver City/Los Angeles County area.

NOTE: SPE reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine which, if any, organizations and programs it will support. Sony Corporate Giving Guidelines may be modified or discontinued at any time without notice.

Community Involvement

As we look to build equity and provide opportunities and career pathways to jobs in the entertainment sector for youth, Sony Pictures is dedicated to providing the tools and access to build a more diverse talent pipeline into the creative economy. We do this through collaboration, contribution and employee engagement in our SPE office communities and neighborhoods.

The company has helped establish and fund unique programs such as the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts and the Front & Center Theatre Collaborative with the Culver City Unified School District, the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture Arts Ed Collective, the Entertainment Community Fund Teaching Artist Program and the Sony Pictures Media Arts Program – a collaborative initiative between Sony Pictures, the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and California Institute of Art Community Arts Partnership.

Our human capital is our greatest resource and we celebrate employees through their participation in ACT, SPE's employee volunteer program. Volunteer partnerships have included the Midnight Mission, Baby2Baby, International Medical Corps, Big Sunday, Project Angel Food, Habitat for Humanity, Bottomless Closet, Heal the Bay and Meals on Wheels.

SPE employees also take part in the studio’s Passing The Torch mentoring initiative providing supportive environments to young people through partnerships with Young Storytellers, Good City Mentors, STEM Advantage and Reading Partners. Additionally, employees are able to partake in incentive programs such as matching gifts, dollars for doers, Greener World environmental grants, athletic team grants and cultural participation opportunities through the studio’s Celebration of Arts & Culture program.

Responsible Sourcing

The Responsible Sourcing Program seeks to increase representation of diverse businesses and sustainable solutions. We value contributions from a robust, inclusive, and sustainable supplier network.

“At Sony Pictures Entertainment, Responsible Sourcing is not about “checking the box.” It’s about identifying and working with businesses that have superior skills and talent from every corner of our remarkable world. Simply put, we value different perspectives because it makes us a better company.”

Tony Vinciquerra Chairman & CEO Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc.

Responsible Sourcing is committed to economic equity, conscious sourcing, and providing a seat at the table for underrepresented voices. Sony Pictures has maintained a supplier diversity program aimed at inclusive sourcing since 1997.

Sony launched the "Road to Zero" environmental plan in 2010, with the ultimate goal of aiming for a zero environmental footprint.  In 2022, in response to the increasingly serious global climate change risks, Sony made the decision to bring forward the target year of achieving the climate change targets by 10 years from 2050. We are moving forward with initiatives aimed at achieving net-zero throughout the entire value chain by 2040.

Help us make our supply chain more inclusive and sustainable. You can learn more about Responsible Sourcing at SPE by reading this brochure and visiting our Responsible Sourcing page here.
