Please be aware that Sony Pictures Entertainment, its subsidiaries, and its film labels (e.g., Columbia Pictures and TriStar Pictures) do not directly contact members of the public, including self-published authors, with unsolicited offers of film rights purchases, contracts, or similar opportunities. We do not request upfront payments, processing fees, marketing fees, or other payments in exchange for consideration of creative works.
If you receive an unsolicited communication claiming to be from Sony Pictures Entertainment, exercise caution, particularly if it:
- Promises unusually large advances or guaranteed business opportunities;
- Requests payment for editing, marketing, legal, administrative, or processing services;
- Pressures you to act quickly or discourages independent verification;
- Uses unofficial email addresses, social media accounts, or messaging platforms while claiming to represent Sony Pictures Entertainment.
If you have any concerns about the authenticity of a communication that purports to be from Sony Pictures Entertainment, one of its employees, or representatives, please do not reply with personal or financial information and instead report it to authorfraud@spe.sony.com.
If you believe you have been the victim of fraud, report the matter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).
