David Kaminow Named Sony Pictures' President, Worldwide Strategic Marketing

CULVER CITY, Calif., November 5, 2009 - David Kaminow has been named president, Worldwide Strategic Marketing, it was announced today by Marc Weinstock, president, Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing.

Kaminow will report to Weinstock and continue to oversee all worldwide theatrical market research efforts for the studio. In this newly created position, Kaminow will be integral in helping to create and implement a film's worldwide marketing platform and message for all divisions of the department. Additionally, Kaminow will work on film brand management and franchise evaluation for the worldwide marketing group.

During his tenure with the studio, Kaminow has overseen research and helped develop a cohesive marketing strategy on such films as Spider-Man 2 and 3, The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, Julie & Julia, Hancock, Hitch, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, Michael Jackson's THIS IS IT, Zombieland, The Pursuit of Happyness, and Casino Royale, among many others. He is currently working on Roland Emmerich's epic 2012, the Hugh Grant/Sarah Jessica Parker comedy, Did You Hear About the Morgans?, The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen, Grown Ups, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, and Chris Rock, and The Karate Kid, among others.

Kaminow joined the studio in 2003 as senior vice president, Worldwide Research, and most recently served as executive vice president, Worldwide Research and Marketing. Prior to joining Columbia, Kaminow spent his career at Miramax Films in New York, starting as director, Research in 1994, moving up to vice president, Research in 1997 and assuming the title of senior vice president of Marketing and Research in 1998, a position he held until the end of 2002.

During his tenure at the company, Kaminow was a marketing/research executive on such innovative campaigns as Chicago, Gangs of New York, Pulp Fiction, Sling Blade, Life is Beautiful, Bridget Jones' Diary, The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, Good Will Hunting, Chocolat, The Talented Mr. Ripley and The Cider House Rules, among dozens of others.

A native New Yorker, Kaminow graduated cum laude from George Washington University with a BA in Communications Studies.
