Little Blue Smurfs Go Big With More Than 160 Day And Date Blue Carpet Premieres Worldwide On "Super Smurf Sunday," July 28, To Celebrate Release Of Columbia Pictures / Sony Pictures Animation's "The Smurfs 2"

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 23, 2013 - In celebration of the July 31, 2013 release of Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Animation's family comedy The Smurfs™ 2, the studio will host 162 day and date blue carpet premieres in cities around the world on Super Smurf Sunday, July 28.

Through this series of special events, the studio will be rolling out over 11,000 feet of blue carpet in the top 50 cities in North America and 60 international markets, with multiple screenings in many of those countries. Talent from the film will attend local premieres around the world. Among the markets hosting premieres, in addition to the US and Canada, are Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Vietnam.

In this sequel to the hybrid live action/animated family blockbuster comedy The Smurfs™, the evil wizard Gargamel creates a couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties that he hopes will let him harness the all-powerful, magical Smurf-essence. But when he discovers that only a real Smurf can give him what he wants, and only a secret spell that Smurfette knows can turn the Naughties into real Smurfs, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette and brings her to Paris, where he has been winning the adoration of millions as the world's greatest sorcerer. It's up to Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity to return to our world, reunite with their human friends Patrick and Grace Winslow, and rescue her! Will Smurfette, who has always felt different from the other Smurfs, find a new connection with the Naughties Vexy and Hackus or will the Smurfs convince her that their love for her is True Blue?
