NEW YORK (August 7, 2014) - Sony Pictures Classics announced today that they have acquired worldwide rights from Participant Media and Omidyar Network to the documentary MERCHANTS OF DOUBT, a film by Academy Award® nominated producer-director Robert Kenner (FOOD, INC.).

MONTRÉAL, Canada, August 6, 2014 - Principal photography has wrapped on the inaugural film from Tom Rothman's TriStar Productions, now officially titled The Walk. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film is a true story based on Philippe Petit's book "To Reach the Clouds," starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the young dreamer who dared the impossible: an illegal wire walk between the World Trade Center towers. Zemeckis wrote the screenplay with Christopher Browne. Producers are Steve Starkey, Robert Zemeckis, and Jack Rapke.

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 25, 2014 - Tom Rothman's TriStar Productions has acquired the worldwide rights and given the go ahead to Money Monster, a fast-paced, character-driven thriller written by Jamie Linden. Daniel Dubiecki, who worked with Clooney on Up in the Air, and Lara Alameddine developed the script along with Jodie Foster, who will direct the film. Dubiecki and Alameddine's The Allegiance Theater will produce together with Clooney and his Smokehouse Pictures partner Grant Heslov.

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 23, 2014 - Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that Elizabeth Cantillon will transition from her position as Executive Vice President of Production for Columbia Pictures to a long-term, first-look producing deal with the studio. In this new role, Cantillon will utilize her vast experience and deep industry relationships to develop and produce films for the Columbia Pictures label.

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 23, 2014 - Columbia Pictures today announced its updated release strategy for the nearly $4 billion Spider-Man franchise. The next film in the series will be Sinister Six, writer-director Drew Goddard's highly anticipated villain team-up, which is the first of several planned character and story expansions. The film, which will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, will hit theaters on November 11, 2016.

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 22, 2014 - Sony Pictures Animation today announced that Jimmy Miller's Mosaic, and Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions will produce MANIMAL, a live-action/animated feature film that takes the concept of the cult television drama of the same title - a crime-fighter who can transform into animals - and reinvents it as an action-comedy. Original series co-creator Glen A. Larson will also produce. The feature is being written by Jay Martel & Ian Roberts.

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 21, 2014 - Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that the studio has brought together an extraordinary number of iconic video game companies, whose classic characters - including PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Centipede&reg, Galaga, Frogger, Q*bert, and Space Invaders - will be featured in the highly-anticipated action comedy Pixels, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, and Brian Cox, and directed by Chris Columbus. The film will be released on May 15, 2015.
